Books In Order For The Percy Jackson Series: A Comprehensive Reading List

January 25, 2025 By Angelina Cheel Leave a Comment

When we think back on the book series that shaped our childhoods, the Olympians and Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson are clearly the most memorable. Recently, the Disney+ show based on these well-known stories came out. To fully enjoy the series, let’s look at what makes these Percy Jackson books so special.

Concerning Percy Jackson’s Books Speciality

Suppose that the Greek gods of today are having offspring that possess the abilities of demigods. Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is based on this intriguing idea. Poseidon’s son, Percy Jackson, starts the narrative by setting out on a quest through a secret realm of legendary goddesses, gods, and their remarkable children. Since 2005, the series has grown by adding two follow-up series, The Trials of Apollo and The Heroes of Olympus, which have drawn in new readers and introduced them to new characters.

The series consists of how many books?

The 17 books that make up the Percy Jackson universe are divided across three series. There are six volumes in the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians series as of 2023, and The Chalice of the Gods is the most recent addition.

Novels by Percy Jackson Sets

Several box sets are available for people who want to add these novels to their home library; these are frequently offered as part of Amazon’s “buy two, get one free” book promotion.

  • The Thief of Lightning At the start of the adventure, Percy Jackson learns that he is a demigod, the son of Poseidon, rather than just a typical 12-year-old with dyslexia and ADHD. Percy is taken to Camp Half-Blood, a demigods’ summer camp, after being accused of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt. There, he must figure out how the bolt was stolen and deal with his new identity.
  • The Monster Sea In this follow-up, Percy and his companions rescue Camp Half-Blood when its enchanted defences start to crumble. They set off on a treacherous quest to recover a potent relic from the Sea of Monsters, encountering many perils and learning profound family secrets in the process.
  • The Curse of the Titan The threat posed by Kronos, one of the old Titans, and new demigods are introduced in this book. While battling the curse alluded to in the title, Percy must assist his friend Grover and confront a formidable ancient monster.
  • The Labyrinth’s Battle The conflict between the Titans and Gods gets more intense as Percy enters high school. To keep their world from being destroyed, he and his pals must make their way through the complex labyrinth that is based on the Greek myth of Daedalus and the Minotaur.
  • The Final Olympian Percy and his allies had to defend Mount Olympus from the Titans’ attack in this dramatic conclusion. The conflict culminates in a fight that changes the course of history as it spills onto the streets of Manhattan.
  • New: The Chalice of the Gods This book, which was published in 2023, follows Percy as he prepares to go college. Reuniting with pals for another adventure full of ancient history, gods, and the power of friendship, he must complete three trials in order to receive the letter of recommendation.

The Heroes of Olympus Order

  • The Hero Who Was Lost This book, which introduces new characters, centers on Jason, a demigod who becomes involved in the Olympian world after losing his memories. Jason and his companions have to track down Percy Jackson, who has gone AWOL, and learn shocking facts about Camp Half-Blood and its competitor, Camp Jupiter.
  • Neptune’s Son In this follow-up, Percy is in California after losing his memories. After finding Camp Jupiter, he has to fight the Roman gods in a mythical conflict.
  • Athena’s Mark Despite their reunion, Annabeth and Percy’s joy is short-lived because war is imminent. They travel to Rome for this journey, where Annabeth tries to establish herself as Athena’s daughter.
  • The Hades House While their friends from the mortal world provide assistance from above, Percy and Annabeth must flee the underworld. They have to contend with Hades and a scheme to revive Gaea, Mother Earth’s Greek counterpart.
  • The Olympus Blood Percy and Annabeth oppose Gaea and her scheme to use demigod blood to rise in the series’ last novel. In order to work together against their shared foe, the demigods must also ease tensions between Camps Jupiter and Half-Blood.

Sequence of Apollo’s Trials

  • The Oracle That Is Hidden Apollo is punished by Zeus, who turns him into an adolescent and sends him to New York City. Percy Jackson and Meg, a demigod, assist Apollo in regaining his position among the gods.
  • The Prophecy of Darkness Apollo continues to battle mythological creatures and the formidable Triumvirate Holdings in his attempt to retake the Oracles.
  • The Maze That Burns Apollo fights the Triumvirate Holdings emperors and suffers personal setbacks in his quest to become eternal again.
  • The Tomb of the Tyrant During Apollo’s ultimate trial, he and his companions must enter an old tomb to defend Camp Jupiter from Triumvirate Holdings.
  • Nero’s Tower In the epic’s climax, Apollo and his demigod companions encounter New York City, their biggest obstacle to date. Apollo’s quest to return to Mount Olympus puts family ties and friendships to the ultimate test.
  • The Star and the Sun The main characters of this stand-alone book are Will Solace and Nico di Angelo. A new adventure in the Percy Jackson universe is presented to fans when Nico, the son of Hades, and Will, the son of Apollo, set off on an expedition into the underworld.
